Porcelain crown are generally made created using a sliver-colored metal base. This base is used because it provides durability when cemented to the tooth. Unfortunately, as it reaches the gumline, the porcelain gets thinner; eventually, the metal base will reflect through.

Sometimes made tooth crowns are comprised of a metal based from cheaper, non-precious metal, such as tin. However, these metals spreading out to the edge of your gum and again dark line will appear.

If the porcelain crown don’t fit to the tooth or not sealed correctly, staining will form at the edges of the teeth. At this point, it can damage the underlying tooth by enabling plaque and bacteria. We avoid using metal based crowns to ensure that black line will never appear.
